Tottenham have submitted a £1.5 million bid for Crystal Palace's Wayne Routledge.Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a £1.5 million offer for Crystal Palace winger Wayne Routledge.
The future of the England Under-21 star was thrown into doubt after he rejected Palace's offer of a new five-year contract last week.
The Eagles claim that Routledge, via agent Paul Stretford, has made it clear he will not sign a new deal at Selhurst Park - whatever the club may offer him.
Despite the assertion, Palace boss Iain Dowie insists he wants to keep the player - who will be out of contract at the end of the season - even if it means foregoing a sizeable transfer fee.
However, his resolve - and more importantly that of chairman Simon Jordan - has now been tested by Spurs who have held a long-term interest in Routledge.
The North Londoners saw a bid for the 20-year-old rejected before the start of the current campaign, but have clearly been encouraged by his refusal to commit to Palace.
Ironically, the London rivals face each other in The Premiership at Selhurst Park this weekend.
Meanwhile, Spurs have confirmed their interest in striker Mido, as revealed on skysports.com on Wednesday.
The Egyptian is currently on the books of Roma but has failed to break into the Serie A side's first-team since a summer move from Marseille.
Spurs are looking to broker a deal to take the hit-man on loan for the rest of the season, but Southampton have revealed that they too are in the hunt for the player's services.
