Bothroyd is currently a free agent after being released by Charlton Athletic following Iain Dowie's appointment at The Valley.
The former Arsenal trainee had only spent a season with The Addicks, scoring twice in 18 Premiership appearances, although only three were starts.
He is now on the lookout for a new club and Bothroyd has been invited to train with Palace during pre-season.
The Championship club are currently on tour in USA and the 24-year-old has linked up with the squad for the trip across the Atlantic.
During the 3-1 friendly win over Crystal Palace USA, Bothroyd featured up front without a number on his shirt.
