Charlie Sheringham has been handed a two-year contract at Crystal Palace.
Charlie Sheringham has won himself a two-year deal at Crystal Palace after impressing coaching staff during their tour of the USA.The 18-year-old, son of West Ham striker Teddy, was released by Ipswich Town at the end of last season.
Palace moved quickly to offer the striker the opportunity to earn a contract at Selhurst Park and he has taken the chance with both hands.
Sheringham was involved in The Eagles' friendly win over Stevenage earlier in the month and travelled with the rest of Peter Taylor's first-team squad for their tour of the USA.
"Charlie joined on a week-to-week trial at first but he has impressed so much we are giving him a couple of years," Palace director of football Bob Dowie told The Sun.
Sheringham Snr is hoping he will get an opportunity to play against his son before he finishes his career.
"I hope I can play against him," Teddy added. "We're similar so I can see what he is trying to do.
"He's certainly got no better advisor."
