Grecians defender flattered by interest from Championship club

Exeter City full-back Dean Moxey admits he is 'flattered' to be wanted by Championship side Derby County. Derby have offered in the region of £200,000 for Moxey and are tipped to come in with an improved bid after their opening gambit was rejected. Moxey was a key figure in Exeter's successful promotion campaign, but concedes he is tempted by the prospect of playing in the second tier. "It is flattering for me," said Moxey in the Derby Evening Telegraph. "It is obviously nice to be wanted, any player will tell you that. "I heard rumours that Derby were interested in me, but I wasn't too sure what was going to happen. "The manager rang me up the other day to tell me that Derby had put a bid in and he would get back to me with any developments. "Obviously it is an exciting prospect playing in the Championship. I want to play at the highest possible level. If I didn't, I shouldn't be playing football. "It is out of my hands at the moment. If the two clubs agree a fee, then it comes down to me."

Gill offer

Meanwhile, Exeter manager Paul Tisdale is hoping to persuade influential midfielder Matt Gill to sign a new contract at St James Park. Tisdale said: "We've made him an offer and he has gone away to look at his options. I haven't give him a deadline yet, but at some point we will need to. I don't want to speculate on what he might do. "I would really like to keep him, of course I would, because he has been one of our best players in the last three years. But he is a free agent and he will do what suits him. He has been very respectful and we are not at loggerheads about anything. "He has been made a very good offer and he knows it is a very good offer. We are just waiting to see what he is going to do."
