Midfielder's agent surprised to see Saints reject Blackpool bid

The agent of Southampton midfielder Jason Puncheon says he cannot understand why the Saints have snubbed a 'fair offer' from Blackpool. The Championship table toppers are looking to move Puncheon on, but they are refusing to lower their asking price. Blackpool are understood to have lodged a £500,000 bid for a player who enjoyed a productive loan spell at Bloomfield Road last season, with potential add-ons taking the deal up to £650,000. Southampton have knocked the approach back, but Puncheon's representative is at a loss to explain how that came to that decision. Tony Finnigan told the Blackpool Gazette: "I know Jason is not wanted at Saints and his future definitely lies elsewhere. Blackpool made a fair bid last week which was turned down. "Jason is at Southampton but he is training with the kids. They are looking at a permanent transfer.

Admirers

"I have no idea why they wouldn't accept Blackpool's offer. I won't tell any club what their player is worth - but if he could go for 50p I'd be delighted. "It wouldn't make any difference to me and it wouldn't make any difference to the player. Southampton need to get this player out of their hair. "Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is a personal friend of mine and he said he made a fair offer for a player Southampton clearly don't want. "When the manager tells me that, then I take his word for it. "He said it was a very, very good offer. I have no idea if he will go back in with a new offer. "There are Championship clubs fond of Jason and he has a lot of admirers. We need a happy ending for both parties."
