David Prutton's EFL predictions: Fulham to hold Aston Villa, Bristol City to beat Leeds

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his predictions ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet EFL matches...

But who is our resident expert tipping for victory? Read on to find out...

Millwall v Birmingham, Saturday 5.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

Millwall have slipped back a bit with a couple of defeats in a row. They were a little unlucky at Brentford last week with the penalty controversy but the home game against Barnsley the week before is really the kind of game you need to win if you want to fire yourself away from the bottom three.

Birmingham looked good as they beat Cardiff last week and they can only get better as Steve Cotterill continues to work with them. I fancy them sneaking another win here.

Prutton predicts: 0-1 with Isaac Vassell to score first (40/1 with Sky Bet)

Ipswich v Norwich, Sunday 12pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

Another cracking derby in the Sky Bet Championship on Sunday! They're coming up thick and fast at the moment. If this game had come a month ago it may have been a very different result, but Norwich are on their way up and on a good little run as they get used to things under Daniel Farke while Ipswich appear to be heading in the opposite direction.

It's a derby, though, and they're always tough to call. I think it will be a close game and neither side will want to open up too much as in the last few weeks a lot of these types of games have been over in the first half. Norwich to nick it for me, just about.

Aston Villa v Fulham, Saturday 3pm

Aston Villa were pretty comprehensively beaten by Wolves last weekend and Steve Bruce will want a reaction back at Villa Park on Saturday.

Fulham will be a tough proposition, however, and although Villa will want to prove they can beat the better teams in the Championship, I think Slavisa Jokanovic's side will be good for a draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)

Bristol City v Leeds, Saturday 3pm

It's all going wrong for Leeds. For a brief period they were flying high and it looked like they could storm the league and run away with it, but they've lost their last three on the spin and don't really look like scoring.

Bristol City, meanwhile, are flying high and were only denied victory last week by a fantastic defensive display by Burton. I've got to go for a home win here, though.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (15/2 with Sky Bet)

Derby v Sheffield Wednesday, Saturday 3pm

Derby rose to the occasion last week against Nottingham Forest and got a great win against their big rivals to really boost their confidence. Gary Rowett's side have been very inconsistent this season but he'll hope they can kick on from here.

They're up against another side who will feel they should be up there, though, in Sheffield Wednesday. Despite their great win against Leeds they still appear to be a little bit shaky, and I feel they'll lose again on Saturday.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (8/1 with Sky Bet)

Middlesbrough v Cardiff, Saturday 3pm

This has got draw written all over it. Cardiff were really poor last week at Birmingham but Neil Warnock will know they were never going to maintain their superb start and he won't be worried at all.

Middlesbrough are drifting further and further away from the top of the table, where they really ought to be, after four winless games in a row and they need to turn that around.

Sheffield United v Reading, Saturday 3pm

Will that win at Leeds last week kick-start Reading's season? We'll have to wait and see but Jaap Stam will be hoping to use that result to galvanise his side.

Sheffield United are a real challenge for them, though, and Chris Wilder will more than fancy his side's chances of getting a good victory here. And I think they will.

Prutton predicts: 2-0 (15/2 with Sky Bet)

Wolves v Preston, Saturday 3pm

Another real test for Wolves on Saturday. They absolutely dominated Aston Villa last week but Preston are a totally different proposition, and it's some of the rougher challenges that have seen Nuno's side slip up this season.

If they can beat Alex Neil's side, who would have been just three points behind them if they'd held on against Fulham last week, then it will lay down a real marker to the rest of the Championship.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (5/1 with Sky Bet)

Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship between Wolves and Aston Villa

Blackburn v Portsmouth, Saturday 3pm

This is a bit of a heavyweight clash in Sky Bet League One! It's not been too long since this was a Premier League clash. In fact, 10 years ago these sides finished a point apart in seventh and eight in the top flight, and both above Manchester City!

But now they're battling it out in the third tier and they're dead level on points in 10th and 11th. Blackburn looked to be on the rise but have stumbled a bit in the last couple of games. I fancy them to get back to winning ways here, though.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

Newport v Mansfield, Saturday 3pm

Not many would have tipped Newport to be above Mansfield by this stage of the season. The pre-season favourites have struggled a little bit so far and every time they look like they're about to go on a run they fall away again.

Newport have been pretty good at home this season and I fancy them to get a win on Saturday.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (17/1 with Sky Bet)
