Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has aimed a cheeky dig at Norwich City, criticising them for spending "£300m" only to be languishing in mid-table in the Sky Bet Championship.
Timm Klose scored a dramatic equaliser with just seconds remaining as Norwich salvaged a 1-1 draw against Ipswich in the East Anglian derby at Carrow Road on Sunday.
Ipswich were on course for a first derby win since April 2009 when captain Luke Chambers nodded home Marty Waghorn's corner in the 89th minute but they were denied in the final minute of stoppage time as Klose headed Grant Hanley's cross home.
McCarthy was bitterly disappointed to have conceded late and dug out Norwich's progress in the last few seasons in his post-match press conference.
The point kept Ipswich above Norwich in mid-table and he said: "If I had had £300m to spend over the last few seasons I think I could have them [Norwich] languishing in 13th place in the Championship, to be honest."
McCarthy, who denied he had sworn and directed an offensive gesture towards the travelling fans while celebrating Chambers' goal, felt the hosts over-celebrated their equalising goal.
He added: "It's one of those bonkers things - Bartosz Bialkowski goes out to get the ball - he's been brilliant - but I don't know if he could have got there or not, or even give a penalty away. And they've managed to nick one.
"It's disappointing, but they celebrated like they won the game. We feel like it's a defeat - but it isn't. We need to take the goodness out of that - and there was lots of it.
"It took them 95 minutes to score - I don't know where the five minutes have come from. I know there were substitutions but no injuries at all. The manager bemoans injury time.
"Would I have taken a point when we set off? Yes. But not at 95 minutes."
Meanwhile, Norwich manager Daniel Farke paid tribute to the battling qualities of his side.
"Obviously it was a big setback for us when we went behind so late in the game, but with this group I always know they have the mentality to come back, the fitness to come back and always have the ability to score a goal," Farke said.
"The stats show that we have scored more goals in the final 30 minutes of games than any other team in the Championship this season - and this was another one.
"Sometimes a late equaliser like this feels better than an easy win, even though you are only getting one point."
