Wright, 22, has a year left on his current deal and has been offered an extension by manager George Burley in a bid to keep him at Portman Road.
Burley has also revealed that he will cash in on the highly-rated number one instead of allowing him to leave in a Bosman deal next summer, possibly opening the door for new Celtic manager Martin O'Neill to swoop this summer.
"If Richard doesn't want to sign then we'll sell him," said Burley. "We have to protect our assets, I won't let his contract expire. However, I'd love him to sign with us for 10 years."
His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has said that he will meet with Burley next week in a bid to sort out the situation, but revealed that he is unlikely to agree the deal, meaning that, when Wright returns from Euro 2000, he is likely to undertake further talks over his future.
"I will be speaking to Ipswich within the next few days about an extension to Richard's contract but it is very unlikely that he will sign it," said Barnett.
"He is aware there is a lot of interest in him and, at this stage, he will be prepared to keep his options open."
