The England reserve goalkeeper, currently in camp at Euro 2000, had said that he would leave the Suffolk club should he not get an improved offer before his current deal expires at the end of next season.
He played a large part in taking Town to promotion last season but manager George Burley said that he would not hesitate to sell him this summer in order to prevent him leaving for free on a Bosman next year should he refuse a new offer.
Last weekend saw his agent tell the club that Wright would ask for a fourfold increase in wages on his return from Holland and Belgium, but Burley has pre-empted that by offering his a deal worth three times his current salary.
"He has promised to give us an answer on his future when he comes back from Euro 2000," said Burley. "We think that a year in the Premiership will be good for Richard."
