The former Luton Town custodian put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Portman Road, after passing his medical on Monday with the Suffolk club.
Town boss Joe Royle confirmed that Davis was a goalkeeping target of his on Friday, as he had been looking for another keeper to add to his ranks at Ipswich.
Premiership side Birmingham City were also linked with Davis but the 26-year-old has decided on a move to East Anglia instead, as he joins the continuing exodus from the troubled Dons.
"We are delighted that Kelvin has joined us," Royle told the club's official website.
"It's been well documented that we have been looking to strengthen our goalkeeping options for the new season and once we knew Kelvin might be available, we made him our number one target."
Meanwhile, Royle has also confirmed that Town have not received any solid interest from other clubs for fellow custodian Andy Marshall.
The former England Under-21 international was handed a free transfer at last season's end and the likes of Reading and Stoke City have been mentioned with the keeper.
However, Royle played down links regarding Marshall and a move away from Portman Road at the moment.
"There has been speculation but at the moment, there is no solid interest in Andy," added Royle.
