Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle did not think it was Darren Bent's day prior to his crucial header in their 1-0 play-off victory.
The young striker was to be replaced by Dean Bowditch but saved himself from the chop by nodding home from close-range against West Ham.
"I didn't think it was Darren's day," explained Royle. "He's had a traumatic week and I didn't think he was there today.
"But he was johnny on the spot today - and well done to Richard Naylor, who hit the target and gave him the chance.
"Darren is a fit, fast young boy - and he'll actually be more of a threat away from home."
Despite a tough second leg in prospect at Upton Park, Royle does not fear taking on The Hammers in their own backyard.
"I don't mind the second leg being away," he added. "We've got the all-important goal and I think we deserve it on our second-half display."
