Davis could miss Leeds clash

Ipswich keeper Kelvin Davis could miss this weekend's clash against Leeds.

Ipswich Town keeper Kelvin Davis could miss this weekend's clash against Leeds United due to the impending birth of his second child.

His wife Kelly is due on Saturday and the keeper is keen to be in Bury St Edmunds to be with his family rather than play against The Whites.

The East Anglian side are pressing for an automatic promotion place in The Championship with just two points separating them and second place Wigan.

"It is a major decision but I don't want to miss the birth of the little one," explained Davis.

"As much as football is important to me, this is a life and my family we are talking about and it is not to be taken lightly.

"I have been telling Kelly that the baby has to come before we head north on Friday, or she should wait until Sunday.

"But I am also arranging for my car to be taken to Leeds just in case I need to get back quickly."

However, manager Joe Royle believes it is unlikely Davis will be absent this weekend: "It's probably a very long shot that Kelvin won't be playing."
