Town: No Supple approach

Ipswich Town insist Leeds United have not made an approach for Shane Supple.

Ipswich Town insist Leeds United have not made an approach for Shane Supple.

Reports have suggested that Leeds have asked about the teenage goalkeeper in response to Ipswich's interest in Dan Harding.

Town boss Jim Magilton (pictured) confirmed his Championship rivals had floated the idea of a player-swap, although he did not divulge the identity of Leeds' target.

Supple's name has been mentioned as an option for The Whites, with manager Kevin Blackwell looking for cover for Neil Sullivan.

But Ipswich chief executive Derek Bowden has dismissed suggestions that he has fielded an enquiry for Supple.

"We've had no enquiry from Leeds about Shane, let alone an offer," Bowden told the club's official website.

Republic of Ireland youth international Supple is tipped for a bright future at Portman Road after breaking into the side last season.

He has been handed the number one jersey for the coming campaign and Magilton will look to fend off any further interest in the 19-year-old.
