Championship club win race to sign Tranmere full-back

Skysports.com understands Ipswich Town have won the race to sign Tranmere Rovers full-back Aaron Cresswell. The 21-year-old is out of contract at Tranmere and has turned down a new deal at Prenton Park in favour of a move to the Championship. Cresswell made 80 appearances for Rovers after making his debut in 2008 and the League One club will be entitled to compensation. The likes of Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion, Peterborough United and Doncaster Rovers all showed an interest in Cresswell, but he has plumped for a move to Ipswich. He is set to become Paul Jewell's fourth signing of the summer after the Town boss previously agreed deals for Michael Chopra, Ivar Ingimarsson and Nathan Ellington.
