Murray loan nearly happened

Ipswich Town striker Ronan Murray almost moved to Gillingham on loan, only for the move to fall through.

Only three days ago, the 19-year-old bagged a brace against the Gills for Ipswich's reserves in an 8-1 victory. Murray has made 13 appearances for the Tractor Boys, starting only once and, according to his manager, Paul Jewell, wanted to go out and get first-team experience. Jewell said: "Ronan was on his way to Gillingham on loan but, for whatever reason, that didn't happen, which was disappointing from our point of view and from Ronan's as he is desperate to go out on loan somewhere. "He is one who needs to be playing games as he's a young kid and is desperate to prove himself. He isn't one to just accept that he's not in the first-team and be happy just training. "He wants to go somewhere on loan and prove that he can be part of a first team."
