Fletcher deserves Prem - Berra

Wolves' in-demand striker Steven Fletcher 'deserves' to play in the Premier League, says team-mate Christophe Berra.

Defender unsure whether team-mate will remain at Molineux

Wolves' in-demand striker Steven Fletcher "deserves" to play in the Premier League, according to team-mate Christophe Berra. Fletcher, 25, submitted a transfer request earlier this month after the Molineux club rejected a £12million bid from Sunderland. Wolves turned down another bid, thought to be around £15m from the Black Cats, on Tuesday with chief executive Jez Moxey asking for a line to be drawn under Fletcher's future. Berra is unsure whether his fellow Scot will still be a Wolves player when they open their Championship campaign at Leeds United on Saturday.

Big things

But he is certain Fletcher, who scored 11 top-flight goals for Wolves last season, has the ability to play at the highest level. "He's a top player and I am sure he will go on to big things," said defender Berra. "Every team want to keep their best players but if people put the right money down you can't say no and I think the boy deserves to play in the Premier League."
