Cardiff City claimed the Championship title, Watford kept their automatic promotion hopes alive and Wolverhampton Wanderers slipped into the bottom three

Cardiff had already secured promotion to the Premier League but there were further celebrations for the Welsh club in one of the day's early-kick-offs as they picked up the point they needed to become champions, although they were not able to mark the occasion with a victory at Turf Moor as a late David Edgar header cancelled out Craig Conway's opener to earn Burnley a valuable 1-1 draw.

Having drawn with bottom club Bristol Rovers on Friday night, Hull City must wait a little longer to go up after a Troy Deeney brace helped Watford to a 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers which brings them within four points of the Tigers with two games to play and leaves Gary Bowyer's men hovering precariously above the drop zone.

Brighton & Hove Albion tightened their grip on a play-off spot by extending their unbeaten run to seven matches with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Blackpool, with Will Buckley, Matthew Upson, Andrea Orlandi, David Lopez and Ashley Barnes (2) on the score sheet.

There was nothing to separate Crystal Palace and Leicester at Selhurst Park as a battle between teams who started the day in fifth and sixth place ended in a lively 2-2 draw, with the Foxes twice coming from behind to ensure a share of the spoils.

Bolton capitalised on that result to rise back into the play-off places above Leicester, as a Marvin Sordell penalty helped them keep up their stunning home form with a 2-1 triumph over Middlesbrough, who had Jonathan Woodgate sent off in the second half.

Nottingham Forest and Barnsley were both desperate for points in their respective bids for a play-off spot and Championship survival, but played out a goalless stalemate at the City Ground which will leave neither side satisfied.

Jermaine Beckford scored twice and James Vaughan also found the target as Huddersfield Town climbed out of the relegation zone thanks to a 3-0 victory over Millwall in a lunchtime kick-off at the John Smith's Stadium.

Wolves dropped into Huddersfield's place in the bottom three after Jonathan Obika's last-gasp goal secured a 2-1 victory for in-form Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Peterborough are level on points with Wolves after their ten-match unbeaten run was brought to a halt in a 3-1 defeat by Derby County.

Leroy Lita salvaged a 1-1 draw for Sheffield Wednesday against Ipswich Town to lift them four points away from the bottom three.

Hayden Mullins scored the only goal of the game at St Andrew's as Birmingham City edged out Leeds United 1-0.
