Sam Vokes admits his Southampton supporting family will be split when he plays against them for Burnley on the weekend

Southampton-born Sam Vokes admits his winner for Burnley upset his family of Saints fans earlier this season, but he does not mind repeating the trick.

Vokes came off the bench to score the winning goal against his hometown club at St Mary's in November.

The 28-year-old's family will be journeying up to Turf Moor for the return fixture on Saturday, and Vokes has no qualms about sending his loved ones back disappointed.

"On my side it's 100 per cent Burnley this weekend," he told Sky Sports News.

"Obviously it was the team I supported growing up and getting the goal to win the game earlier in the season was a great feeling for myself.

"It's another fixture I'll be looking forward to.

"The old man wasn't too happy to be honest. It was a joke with him in the night and it was a big result for us at the time.

"He'll be coming up the game and it's a fixture that stands out for the family but when it comes down to it - it's an important game for us and myself as a Burnley player."
