An early strike from Patrick Suffo and an own goal from Paul Weller set Coventry on their way to victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, ending the Clarets' seven-match unbeaten home run.
Coventry, led by assistant manager Eric Black after boss Gary McAllister took compassionate leave, had drawn seven of their previous eight games but were set on their way by a goal after just eight minutes.
Suffo received the ball with his back to goal, before spinning and beating Brian Jensen with a right-foot shot.
Steve Staunton lashed a long range effort just the wrong side of the post before Burnley finally came to life, Robbie Blake testing Gavin Ward who produced a fine diving save.
Suffo's presence then played a part in the crucial second goal, as Weller diverted Andy Morrell's cross into his own goal under a challenge from the Coventry striker.
Blake, played in by Luke Chadwick, beat Ward with a low shot to give Burnley hope, but their best chance was wasted by Mo Camara seven minutes from time and they were then reduced to 10 men in stoppage time when Arthur Gnohere was dismissed for a second bookable offence.
