Clarets chief Stan Ternent is looking to bolster his goalkeeping options, as he is unhappy with the form of Brian Jensen.
Christiansen has been told by Gers chief Alex McLeish that he can move on in January and it is being suggested that The Clarets may lodge a bid to land him in the New Year.
The Dane is excited by the prospect of moving on and securing regular first team football again.
He said: "I am excited about what will happen in the future because I really need to play now.
"I have told the manager about my situation and I think Rangers will let me go during the transfer window on loan or a transfer."
Rangers, meanwhile, have been dealt a blow by the news that midfielder Stephen Hughes will be absent until mid-January with a groin injury picked up against Hearts at the weekend.
