Burnley's highly-rated midfielder Richard Chaplow has signed a new long-term contract at Turf Moor.
Burnley's highly-rated midfielder Richard Chaplow has signed a new long-term contract at Turf Moor, ending speculation linking him with a move to Championship rivals Leeds United.
Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell had a £1 million bid for the promising 19-year-old rejected by The Clarets earlier in the summer.
Now Chaplow, who made his debut for the England Under-21 side last season, has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract, less than a year after signing his first professional deal.
Manager Steve Cotterill, who has been busy rebuilding the squad he inherited from previous boss Stan Ternent, said he is 'delighted' to have reached an agreement with the Accrington-born player.
"I'm delighted to have Richard Chaplow at Burnley and with his decision to sign a new contract with us," Cotterill told the club's official website.
"It is a big boost for him and for Burnley Football Club that he has committed his future to us."
