Burnley's John Oster has vowed to rid himself of his bad-boy reputation.Burnley's new signing John Oster has vowed to rid himself of his bad-boy reputation.
The Wales international found himself without a club after Sunderland cancelled his contract this January - but Burnley were swift to snap up the talented winger.
Oster recently had a loan spell at Leeds cut short after an incident at a Christmas party, and knows that he must now look to keep himself on the straight and narrow.
"It was my stupid behaviour that got me into trouble in the first place, and it was the reason that Sunderland wanted to get me out," said Oster.
"They jumped upon the situation and terminated my contract.
"I'm just concentrating now on getting back fit. Leeds were in a no-win situation because they basically had to do what Sunderland said.
"Ultimately the decision was with Sunderland.
"I have had a couple of weeks not to remember, but I am just trying to keep my head down and hopefully start playing well again.
"It will take me a couple of weeks to get that sharpness back.
"I'm 26 now and I don't expect anyone to mother me.
"My actions got me into the situation I'm in, so I am not blaming anyone for what happened.
"I've now got to grasp this opportunity with both hands and concentrate on the future."
