Alex Neil has mixed emotions after Norwich's 2-2 draw with Newcastle

Norwich manager Alex Neil revealed he had mixed emotions after Norwich's 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Tuesday evening.

Norwich were behind after just 23 seconds through Ayoze Perez's well taken finish but they fought back well to lead thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Cameron Jerome.

The hosts were eventually pegged back nine minutes from time by Jamaal Lascelles' volley and Neil thought the draw was a fair result.

"To be honest there are mixed emotions after that," he said. "Obviously you are not expecting to concede a goal in the first minute and we were really nervy in the first five minutes.

"But once we got our goal and then got ahead I thought we were excellent - the response from the players was top class.

"In the second half we started okay and then we started to drop deeper and deeper to protect what we had and the frustrating thing from our point of view is that we didn't see it out.

"It was a really good game, with two teams going toe to toe, not giving an inch and both trying to win it. In the end I thought a draw was a fair result."

Neil also revealed that striker Nelson Oliveira had missed the game with a foot injury.

He added: "He needs a scan but if it is what I think it is he could be out for four to six weeks, which would obviously be a big blow for us."
