However, unlike Mulryne, Russell will not be able to leave the Norfolk side on a free transfer because he is under 24 years of age.
If Russell was to go, a tribunal would have to determine what price the club could receive for him.
Norwich boss Nigel Worthington (pictured) is keen to keep the squad player in his future plans and described the new deal to Russell as a "very good offer."
However, Worthington did say that the offer made would be the club's last to Russell.
He told Canary Corner.com:"Darel Russell has been made a very good offer for where he is at in his career and the ball's firmly in his court.
"The contract is sitting on the table, waiting to be signed.
"The agent said they want more money but there are lengths this football club can go to."
It looks likely that unless Russell signs the new deal, he looks likely to join Mulryne in leaving Norwich at the end of the season.
