Leon McKenzie earned a point for Norwich in their 1-1 draw with Crewe.Norwich recorded a 1-1 home draw for the second time in four days as Crewe made it four points from their first two games.
The Canaries had to come from behind after Luke Varney had struck in the first half before Leon Mckenzie replied for Nigel Worthington's side.
Varney almost broke the deadlock after four minutes when his 18-yard effort was saved by Robert Green before Dean Ashton missed a glorious chance to score against his old club, who were without their captain Kenny Lunt, but he skied his shot over from six yards after the ball had ricocheted into his path.
After 19 minutes Varney, who also had a close-range header kept out, did get on the score sheet when he picked up a pass from David Vaughan on the left-hand side of the area and found the net from 15 yards with a cool finish.
Tottenham loanee Dean Marney twice went close to producing an equaliser when he saw a header go wide before hammering a free-kick against the post from distance.
Five minutes though into the second half McKenzie levelled when he slid in Adam Drury's cross and he nearly added a second after an hour but his close-range header flew over.
Green had to be on his guard to deny a Vaughan curler and centre-back Richard Walker also threatened from a corner before Ashton almost stole the points with an acrobatic effort.
