Norwich boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that he is close to securing the signature of Brighton's Elliott Bennett.
The Canaries are keen to continue with their summer rebuilding programme as they prepare for life in the Premier League next season and believe Bennett could be a useful addition.
The 22-year-old will provide added competition for places in midfield and will be hoping to make his mark at the highest level after helping Brighton to promotion out of League One in 2010/11.
Bennett is expected to pen a three-year contract upon his arrival at Carrow Road and Lambert hopes the relevant paperwork required to seal the deal will be completed in the next few days.
He told the club's official website: "He's a young and exciting player with plenty of pace.
"He can play in a wide position or in behind the forwards - he's a quick lad and he's got a winning mentality.
"He played his full part in what Brighton achieved last season and that desire to succeed will stand him in good stead here."
Bennett made 100 appearances for Brighton in two years having joined the club from Wolves in 2009.
He said: "It's an unbelievable opportunity for me to fight for a place in the team which will be playing in the Premier League.
"I like the mentality at Norwich City that has seen them get back-to-back promotions and I'm grateful to Paul Lambert for giving me the chance to be part of what's happening at the club."
Bennett is poised to become Lambert's third signing in the wake of Norwich's promotion to the top flight, following the captures of James Vaughan from Everton and Steve Morison from Millwall.
