Fox - Holt deserves chance

Striker's self-confidence is a key skill, according to club-mate

Grant Holt's Euro 2012 credentials have received more support after Norwich team-mate David Fox backed the striker for England. The forward has this season been a shock success in the Premier League and on Saturday took his goals tally to 12 after scoring twice against Wolves. Holt's afternoon was ruined somewhat by his later red card, however, Fox is still in no doubt his club colleague could do a job for England at this summer's European Championship. At the age of 30, Norwich's No.9 has been overlooked at international level, but with Wayne Rooney suspended and Darren Bent injured, there is growing momentum for his call-up. "I would not be surprised if Grant goes to the Ukraine. He would not let anyone down," said Fox.

Something special

"Sometimes when you watch him in training, you wonder how he has ever scored a goal. But on a Saturday he is just unbelievable. "The fella has so much confidence in his own ability and it is great to know that we have someone who will always step up and score the goals. "The boys look to him to do something special and pretty much every Saturday, he produces for us." But if Holt was to be called up for England, Fox has revealed his friend would miss a special occasion. "He is meant to be coming to Cyprus for my wedding this summer, but I do not know whether to put him on the table plans just yet," said the midfielder.
