With the summer transfer window fast approaching, speculation as to who will be going where has started to gather pace.
Norwich City striker van Wolfswinkel is among those to have seen his future called into question, with a return to Portugal mooted for the former Sporting Lisbon forward.
Having struggled to make an impact in England, and with Norwich having suffered relegation out of the Premier League, talk of a summer exit is only likely to intensify.
Europa League finalists Benfica have, however, distanced themselves from an approach for the Holland international and Brazilian midfielder Derley of Atletico Paranaense.
A statement released by the club read: "Watching the press in recent months, SL Benfica have already noticed an endless parade of players who allegedly have been signed or are wanted.
"Speculation is the work of journalists and we respect that, but what the press cannot ignore is that in this process many agents, leaders, family members and investors are interested in shuffling, confusing or simply inflating the value of their representatives.
"This comes to the subject of names this Friday published in two newspapers and sports papers in which SL Benfica is supposedly interested.
"There is no question about the value of the players, just the truth. Therefore, Van Wolfswinkel and Derley are not part of the plans of the club.
"Sport Lisboa e Benfica will continue to work within the objectives set and not according to what some sports agents want Benfica to do."
