Leeds will now travel to Barcelona to face the Catalonian giants on the back of a scoreless draw and a surprise defeat by Manchester City.
Lee Bowyer came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 67th minute as he raced clear of the home defence only for Hedman to just beat him to the ball and clear.
Freekick specialist Ian Harte got the game off to an exciting start with a trademark effort that had Hedman diving to his right to make the save.
Cedric Roussel hit back for The Sky Blues but it was Harte again that was next to test the Swedish keeper and again Hedman was equal to the task
The first half was a fairly even affair although both sides lacked the killer pass and most of the efforts on target were individually made or from set pieces although Michael Bridges should have done better when he volleyed wide when free in the box.
John Eustace almost became the hero for the local faithful when he got the all on the six-yard box but despite being unmarked he managed to volley the Youssef Chippo cross over the bar.
