The 27-year-old former Grimsby Town has fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground and is now considering his future.
Lester's current contract expires in the summer and Coventry boss Gary McAllister has revealed that he may make a move at the end of the season.
"Jack Lester is someone we have enquired about and it might be something that we look at in the summer," admitted the Scot.
"We are projecting forward and there are a quite a few players who we are honing in on when there are a few people coming out of contract at Coventry."
One player helping keep Lester out of the side is youngster Andy Reid, who is hoping to fend off competition from new signing Darren Huckerby to keep his place at the club.
The Manchester City striker has agreed to a loan deal and will move to Forest on February 24.
Reid, though, is hoping to keep his place in Paul Hart's starting XI.
"It's great to have a good run," he said. "It's hard to go in for one game and show what you can do.
"I feel I've got fitter with every single game and have contributed for longer periods in every single game.
"I am happy with the way things are going. I'm not prepared to give up the shirt."
