Morrell, who was the top scorer in all divisions last season with 34 goals, got a move to First Division side Coventry City in May, while Trundle joined Welsh rivals Swansea City.
Dragons manager Denis Smith brought in strikers Chris Armstrong and Chris Llewellyn to compete with Jones and Hector Sam after the summer departures.
Speaking after his hat-trick against Morecambe in the LDV Vans Trophy, Jones said: "You can't dwell on the past, otherwise people would still be harking back to Gary Bennett.
"We've always had decent strikers at Wrexham, going back to Graham Whittle, Jim Steel and Benno," the forward told the Daily Post.
