Both Ward and Arphexad are out of contract at the end of the season and the former Motherwell boss has opted to bring in a new keeper to offer competition for current number one Scott Shearer.
"Unfortunately, we will not be keeping Pegguy and Gavin after the end of the season," Black told the club's official website.
"It's a shame because they have both served us well but I'm looking to bring in another 'keeper.
"I cannot say who it is just yet but hopefully it will all be tied up soon.
"He is not very experienced but he will give Scott real competition for the shirt."
Meanwhile, Shearer has had to pull out of Berti Vogts's Scotland squad for Wednesday's friendly in Denmark due to illness.
The 23-year-old was called up at the weekend after Celtic keeper Rab Douglas dropped out through injury, but was unable to train due to the illness he has picked up.
In other news, Sky Blues veteran defender Steve Staunton will miss the final two matches of the season to undergo an exploratory operation on his injured knee.
The former Liverpool and Aston Villa player has been struggling with the injury for the last two or three weeks and has decided to get the problem treated now before the start of pre-season in July.
