Brighton & Hove Albion have extended Andrew Whing's loan spell for a further month.
Brighton & Hove Albion have extended defender Andrew Whing's loan spell for a further month.
The 22-year-old moved to The Withdean on an initial one-month deal from Coventry City and has impressed in his short time at the club.
Manager Dean Wilkins was keen to keep Whing for an extended period after helping the League One outfit remain unbeaten in their last five games.
"His first game was Blackpool and I've got to be honest I felt a bit sorry for him. He must have wondered what he was coming into!" Wilkins told the club's official website.
"But he's played a major part in the run that we're having at the moment."
The Seagulls will have the option to keep Whing on loan until January, when any deal would then have to be renegotiated.
Wilkins could consider trying to sign the youngster on a permanent deal in the transfer window but admits Coventry boss Micky Adams may be unwilling to part with the stopper.
He said: "It's a bit early for that, but if he continues playing and taking part as he has done then we would be considering that for sure - but I'm not sure how Micky would see that situation."
