Jordan Stewart has set his sights on holding onto his place in Watford's starting line-up.
Watford defender Jordan Stewart has set his sights on holding onto his place in the starting line-up.
Chris Powell began the season at left back following his summer switch but a calf injury at the start of September has kept the veteran defender on the sidelines.
Jordan has enjoyed an extended spell in the side in Powell's absence and helped The Hornets claim back-to-back clean sheets in their last two Premiership outings.
The 24-year-old has kept a fully fit Powell out in recent games and is hoping he has done enough to continue his run in Adrian Boothroyd's side.
"Personally, I'm happy at the moment," Stewart told the club's official website.
"When Chris Powell came in the summer it was good for me because he gives me both competition and guidance. He's been playing in the top flight for 15 years.
"At the start of the season I just concentrated on getting back in the team and my chance to step in came when Chris got injured.
"Hopefully I can stay in there now."
