Sky Blues boss believes striker is good enough for Prem

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn is tipping striker Lukas Jutkiewicz to return to the Premier League one day. The former Everton man is now at the Ricoh Arena after leaving Goodison following loan spells with Plymouth, Huddersfield and Motherwell. The 22-year-old has two goals for the Sky Blues in the Championship this season and Thorn was delighted the club resisted the temptation to sell him to Middlesbrough on transfer deadline day. Thorn insists Jutkiewicz has no problems missing out on a move to The Riverside and that he will continue to give his all for the club, starting with Saturday's home game with Derby.

Important

"I brought Juke to the club so I know how good he is and his time will come," Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph. "He'll play in the Premiership one day, and hopefully that will be with us. "I think the world of him because he's got loads of talent but I think the world of Coventry as well and that's why it was important to keep him in the window. "I've had a good chat to him and he's been as good as gold, completely professional about it throughout and is now looking forward to getting back to playing football."
Relief
Thorn admits to breathing a sigh of relief when last Wednesday's transfer window shut, meaning Jutkiewicz was staying while he was pleased to have landed Cody McDonald. The 25-year-old joined the Sky Blues on a three-year deal from Norwich on transfer deadline day having impressed on-loan at Gillingham last season and Thorn insists the pressure is off the striker. "It was a real relief because I woke up on deadline day morning, opened the curtains and nearly talked myself into going back to bed," he joked. "But I've got what I wanted, to get Cody McDonald in and keep hold of Jutkiewicz and I want to just keep building on what we have been doing here. "There's no pressure on Cody. He needs a couple of games to get going again but he looked pretty sharp in training. I can't wait to get into the lad and bed him in to the way we play."
