QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink admitted he faces a busy summer after his team ended their campaign with a 1-0 victory at home to Bristol City.
Karl Henry, who curled home a second-half winner at Loftus Road, is one of several Rangers players whose contracts are about to expire.
The likes of Junior Hoilett, Alejandro Faurlin and veteran defender Clint Hill are also coming to the end of their current deals, and Hasselbaink expects major changes to be made before next season.
"Obviously there is more work to be done. We all know we are in transition," said the Dutchman, whose team finished 12th in the Sky Bet Championship.
"We've got some good characters here at the club and we have a base. We now want to work from that base.
"There are going to be some changes at this club, but we also have to understand that it's not going to be about only throwing money at it.
"It's about getting the right mentality and that platform, and having it right throughout the club.
"We want to make sure that we are all going in the same direction and are a good team, not just individuals."
The former Chelsea striker added: "Style is always something we want to play with, but it has to be possible - you are not going to win every game in style.
"Sometimes you have to dig in and battle, but we want to play with a style where we pass the ball and create chances."
Bristol City boss Lee Johnson felt his team should have been awarded a penalty when Henry wrestled Jonathan Kodjia to the ground 10 minutes after scoring.
"If this was any sort of decider, I'd have ended up in prison - that's how I felt about it," said Johnson.
"But I've got to take stock of the bigger picture and congratulate everybody on their contribution.
"I thought we had enough chances and had the better play, but we've been done by a fantastic strike - in fairness you've got to give credit for that goal."
The Robins finished the season in 18th place and Johnson, who was appointed manager in February, is also planning a busy pre-season.
He said: "You've got to slowly integrate. It's a building process and I feel over the summer we can really get our teeth into the recruitment and have a good pre-season.
"Recruitment is the most important thing. This season we've been pulled out of trouble by quality loans and you don't want to be in that situation again.
"It's never quite the same when you have loan players, even though the ones we have have been fantastic.
"We want to make sure players are our own. We want assets and to make sure we can move forward.
"We need to get the balance right, with two or three top-class players, some middle-of-the-road players comfortable in the Championship, and some rising stars.
"We may take a couple of loans. We shouldn't turn down that opportunity if it's a top-drawer player, but we'd want to do that early."
