David Prutton's EFL predictions

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his predictions ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet EFL matches...

But who is our resident expert tipping for victory? Read on to find out...

Brentford v Leeds, Saturday 5.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

Don't let the table fool you too much, this is one of the form teams in the division hosting one of the teams that are really struggling. Brentford are making their way through the league now, while Leeds have lost five in six and are in a right bit of bother, as shown by their defeat to Derby from a winning position in midweek.

That being said, I think this will be a tight game on Saturday evening at what should be a lively Griffin Park, and I find it tough to separate these two. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 with Ollie Watkins to score first (30/1 with Sky Bet)

Middlesbrough v Sunderland, Sunday 12.15pm - Live on Sky Sports Football

The Sky Bet Championship is such a tough division to call, but everything about this game would suggest this has to be a home win. Middlesbrough finally seem to have gotten their act together as they adjust to life under Garry Monk, and Sunderland are in absolute freefall.

You feel a little for Simon Grayson, who was given an incredibly difficult job there, but the results were poor and as soon as relegation becomes a possibility in any league then the manager is in trouble.

I think Middlesbrough will want to give their opponents a right beating on Sunday to announce they've really arrived this season, and I fancy them to do just that.

Prutton predicts: 3-0 with Britt Assombalonga to score first (25/1 with Sky Bet)

Live EFL

Bristol City v Cardiff, Saturday 12pm

Bristol City are flying at the moment it has to be said. Every time you think they're going to stumble they pull another great result out of the bag and to win at Sunderland and Fulham in just a few days was fantastic.

They sit fourth in the table heading into the weekend, and could lay down a real marker against Cardiff on Saturday, but Neil Warnock's side are always very tough to beat and I think this will be a draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (5/1 with Sky Bet)

Aston Villa v Sheffield Wednesday, Saturday 3pm

It's hard to call this one. Sheffield Wednesday got back to winning ways in midweek but every time they do get a victory it seems to be followed quickly by another poor run, and that's why they find themselves in mid-table at the start of November.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, will be content with their draw at Birmingham and got a great win at Preston on Wednesday night, but it's been a tough week and I feel like this will be a draw.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (12/1 with Sky Bet)

Derby v Reading, Saturday 3pm

Derby are another side on a great run at the moment. Four straight wins and it seems like Gary Rowett is really starting to get the performances and results he wants from his side. They've got plenty of firepower, and could push on to become a real force this season.

Reading, meanwhile, are still at the wrong end of the division despite their win in midweek and I can't see them getting anything at Pride Park. Home win for me.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (15/2 with Sky Bet)

Nottingham Forest v QPR, Saturday 3pm

What a week for QPR. Ian Holloway's side were on a dismal run of form heading into last weekend but have gone on to take two big scalps at Loftus Road.

Whether they can take those kinds of performances on the road remains to be seen, and the fact they're yet to win away this season suggests they might not. But I still reckon this will be a draw.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

Sheffield United v Hull, Saturday 3pm

Sheffield United's great run finally came to an end at QPR in midweek, but that shouldn't bother them too much because they generally react well to a defeat.

They come up against a Hull side who are in a bit of turmoil as well, with Leonid Slutsky admitting his future is out of his hands. For me this has to be a home win.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (15/2 with Sky Bet)
