The Preston-born 20-year-old, a firm fans’ favourite at Bloomfield Road, has impressed many with his commanding performance`s at the heart of The Seasiders` defence, and has been viewed by a posse of scouts from higher divisions, but Gerry Francis has won the race to acquire the stopper's signature.
The deal involves a fee, but the club refused to say how much, with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston saying: "I’m not in a position to reveal the exact fee but it is not as previously thought. It is a future hope rather than a large cash sum now.
"It would have been unfair of us to stand in his way and would have been demotivating for him if he wasn’t allowed to go."
This transfer is similar to one involving the two clubs in 1993, when Trevor Sinclair, who is now with West Ham, moved from the North West to London.
