The R's were forced to work hard for their three points as they came from behind at Saltergate, but they ended up easing away from the Derbyshire outfit.
Glynn Hurst headed The Spireites in front after just 11 minutes when he met Chris Brandon's cross.
However, it took Rangers just two minutes to get back on level terms when Richard Pacquette drilled home from the edge of the area.
Nigerian international Danny Shittu (pictured) then grabbed a second after 33 minutes when he rose to head home Marc Bircham's in-swinging corner.
Former Chelsea star Paul Furlong extended Rangers' lead with just seven minutes left, before substitute Andy Thomson sealed victory with his last-minute drive.
The scoring, though, was not over as Chris Brandon registered from David Reeves's effort to give the scoreline a more respectable look.
The win sees QPR close to within three points of fifth placed Bristol City.
