Queens Park Rangers are in talks to sign Chesterfield captain Ian Evatt.Queens Park Rangers are in talks to sign Chesterfield captain Ian Evatt.
The Championship club have had a six-figure offer accepted by The Spireites and are now aiming to wrap up Evatt's signing.
Chesterfield were duty bound to accept the offer from The R's due to a clause in Evatt's contract at Saltergate.
When Evatt signed a new two-year deal last summer, there was a clause inserted which granted him permission to speak to any club who offered at least £100,000.
It is understood that QPR's bid for the 23-year-old is between that amount and £200,000, with a deal likely to be completed in the coming days.
"The lad is on holiday at the moment," QPR chairman Bill Power told the club's official website.
"He is back on Friday and hopefully we will be able to sort everything out from there."
Evatt has spent the past two seasons with Chesterfield and was the subject of a failed bid from Bristol City back in February.
Coventry and Leicester have also been linked with the defender but a switch to Loftus Road appears to be on the horizon for Evatt.
