QPR defender Danny Shittu has signed a new three-year contract at the club.Queens Park Rangers defender Danny Shittu has ended speculation about his future by signing a new three-year contract at the club.
The former Charlton Athletic player will remain at Loftus Road until the summer of 2008, as Ian Holloway's side look to make a serious promotion challenge in The Championship next term.
The 24-year-old was linked with a move to The Premiership, with Manchester City thought to be lining up a £1.5 million move for the centre back while Southampton were also seemingly interested before their relegation from the top-flight last month.
Shittu successfully overcame a serious knee ligament injury to return to action in September 2004, with the defender having made 134 appearances for the West London club.
He was delighted to secure his future with QPR and believes the club can return to The Premiership.
"It feels good for me to know that I'm going to be here next season," Shittu told the club's official website.
"There was a lot of talk about me playing in The Premiership next season, but I really feel that I can get there with QPR."
Meanwhile, the club have announced a two-year sponsorship deal with Sellotape, with the company's name to appear on the back of QPR's jerseys.
