Full-back looking forward to a new challenge at Loftus Road

Queens Park Rangers have finalised the signing of full-back Luke Young from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee. Skysports.com revealed earlier in the week that QPR were considering a bid to bring the former Tottenham and Charlton defender back to the capital. Villa boss Alex McLeish confirmed on Friday that he had an agreement to let Young return to London, despite the right-back featuring in the club's opening two Premier League games. Young has now signed a three-year deal at Loftus Road and follows midfielder Joey Barton in linking up with the top-flight new boys.

Big things

"I am ready for a new challenge," Young told the club's official website. "There are big things that are going to happen at this football club and I am really pleased to be a part of it. "Myself and Joey signing here shows the intent of the club. "I am really looking forward to getting started and pulling on the blue and white shirt." QPR boss Neil Warnock had been looking to improve his full-back options and is happy to have brought in the former England international. Warnock said: "I've been looking for a defender with vast Premier League experience for a while now and Luke certainly fits the bill. "He can play anywhere across the back four and that versatility will stand us in really good stead. "Moving back home to London will also serve him well and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in action for us - he's got so much to give and his experience will be vital."
