Striker back in training after groin surgery

Queens Park Rangers striker Heidar Helguson is hoping to make his return from injury against Arsenal this weekend. The Iceland international has been out of action since the end of January with a niggling groin problem. The 34-year-old was forced to undergo surgery and the striker has been sorely missed by QPR with the Loftus Road outfit dropping into the bottom three in his absence. Helguson has returned to training and he is now hoping to be involved for the visit of in-form Arsenal on Saturday. "I started training on Monday, so you could say that I've recovered," Helguson told Icelandic website 433.is. "It's never fun to get injured, and especially not when the team is not doing too well. We've been struggling. "I had a surgery on my groin, there were some problems there, but it looks like it went well. "I still feel a bit of pain and that will continue for some time, but it looks like the worst part is over and the problem was fixed. "I will just work my way out of this slowly, but it's looking good. "If I do okay in training this week, I hope to at least make the bench [against Arsenal]. "We will just have to wait and see but that's what I hope for."
