New Nottingham Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll has admitted to being in the market for Danny Collins, but has played down links to Jermaine Jenas.
Collins has been made available by Stoke City and is understood to have left their training base in the United States.
Forest have been mentioned as one possible destination for the centre-half, with the Reds in desperate need of defensive reinforcements.
O'Driscoll, who has already added Adlene Guedioura to his ranks since taking the reins at the City Ground, is hoping the Reds can see off competition from a number of their rivals for a player with prior experience of what it takes to get out of the Championship.
"I think Danny has been made available by Stoke and there are one or two clubs interested in his services and we're just one of many," he told
Sky Sports News HD.

"He's a good character, he's been promoted twice from the Championship and they are the boxes you need to tick first and foremost.
"Whatever they cost, that's down to the owners to see what they want to do."
O'Driscoll claims to have the full backing of the Al-Hasawi family when it comes to transfer business, with Forest's new owners keen to take the club back to the Premier League.
He added: "They are considered. They want to do the right things for Nottingham Forest, not the right things for them, but hopefully both things will be the same.

"They have said to me, have a look at the players that I want and then give them the list and they will do their best to get them.
"Ashley Cole was the first one on the list and John Terry. No, we're not being silly, we're looking at the club and where it is and what we need. First and foremost we need good characters."
It has been suggested that former City Ground academy graduate Jenas is among those Forest will look to bring on board, but O'Driscoll claims no approach has been made for the Tottenham midfielder.
"Again, if good players become available, we will look at things. At the minute, that is just speculation," he told the
Nottingham Evening Post.
"We have not had a conversation."
