Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare has confirmed Wes Morgan is back on his injured list ahead of Wednesday's trip to Arsenal.

Morgan returned from a month on the sidelines for the Champions League quarter-final, second leg at home to Atletico Madrid last Tuesday but failed to make it through the 90 minutes.

The 33-year-old had been thought to be suffering with cramp when he came off with six minutes to go, but Shakespeare said he had overstretched his hamstring.

The Premier League champions will also be without striker Islam Slimani (groin) at the Emirates while Papy Mendy's season is over after he had ankle surgery.

Shakespeare said: "Unfortunately Wes Morgan won't make it [for Wednesday's game with Arsenal]. The first impression was it was cramp but I think he just overstretched his hamstring.

"It's not a full pull but we're just mindful of it so he won't make Wednesday.

"We're hoping the caution on Wednesday will mean we can look to Saturday [Leicester play West Brom]

It's a heavyweight week of action this week on Sky Sports with three huge Premier League games

"Islam Slimani has a groin strain and unfortunately Papy Mendy has had an operation on his ankle in France.

"He will be out for the rest of the season I'm afraid."

Leicester are six points clear of the Premier League's bottom three with six games remaining but Shakespeare refused to say his side are safe after watching Hull and Swansea pick up vital wins on Saturday.

"I'm not sure how many points it will take [to avoid relegation] and the weekend proved that. Teams are capable of winning games and putting points on the board," said Shakespeare. "We have to make sure we look after our own club. You are not sure what's round the corner."

However, he dismissed any suggestions Arsenal, seventh in the table, are in crisis after their 2-1 FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City on Sunday.

He added: "Seeing the Arsenal match it didn't look like turmoil to me, there were players fighting and they thoroughly deserved the win in the end, even though it was a close game."
