Claude Puel believes Leicester "deserved a fairer result" after their FA Cup exit to Chelsea on Sunday and praised the performance of his side.
Pedro's extra-time goal sent the Blues into the semi-final draw, after Jamie Vardy had cancelled out Alvaro Morata's opener in the first 90 minutes.
However, Puel says his side were better than their opponents and deserved to go through, and thinks their showing demonstrates how his players have improved since his arrival.
"It's a big disappointment. We played very well today against a good team," he said. "We deserved a fairer result at the end. It's harsh for my squad because they gave their best.
"I think they dominated the game with more chances than Chelsea and they deserved other things. The support of the fans was fantastic also.
"But this is football and today is harsh, but I am happy about our performance because it shows our good progress. They continue to work hard and to make progress on the pitch, collectively and individually, tactically and technically.
"Perhaps we just need to find a little more clinical edge because we had chances to win the game."
Puel also refused to place blame at the feet of individual players, although there were some questions over Kasper Schmeichel's goalkeeping for Pedro's winner after he came off his line and failed to clear the ball ahead of the forward.
"We cannot blame Kasper for the second goal. He's been fantastic since the beginning, and made fantastic saves in the game," the Frenchman added.
"It is a collective today and nothing about Kasper. It is a disappointment because it was another game today and the details made the difference.
"The first goal we needed more maturity and the second goal was perhaps there was something, but we had a lot of chances to come back in extra-time."
