O'Neill is known to be an admirer of the Yorkshireman, who is out of contract at Nottingham Forest in the summer, and was linked with a move for the player while he was still at Leicester. Now it is believed that O'Neill is keen to add Crossley to his goalkeeping options at Parkhead.
However, the Irishman is facing stiff competition for the keeper from former team Leicester, who are still very keen to sign Crossley, despite O'Neill's departure. The Filbert Street move will appeal to Crossley, who is looking to stay in the Midlands area next season.
O'Neill is also looking at the possibility of signing former Filbert Street favourite Kasey Keller from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano. The Celtic boss is known to be a great admirer of Keller who made a fantastic start to his career in Spain, attracting a lot of attention throughout Europe.
Crossley, who is celebrating his 31st Birthday today, has been at the City Ground since joining as a schoolboy, and had battled well last season to retain his place in the Forest first team.
Planetfootball.com revealed the likelihood that O`Neill would be interested in buying a new keeper, the day after he was appointed as the new boss at Parkhead. Indeed, we also suggested he would target Crossley, and it seems as though he is now definitely on the trail of the man nicknamed `Norm.`
