Lincoln City have accepted a £150,000 bid for Gareth McAuley from Crewe Alexandra.Lincoln City have accepted a £150,000 bid for Gareth McAuley from Crewe Alexandra.
McAuley is out of contract at the end of the season and Lincoln have decided to cash in, rather than lose the defender for nothing.
The 26-year-old's agent told skysports.com last week that Leicester City were keen on the Northern Ireland, but The Foxes look set to be beaten to the punch by their Championship rivals.
Doncaster Rovers also held an interest in the centre half, who has impressed at Sincil Bank since joining the club from Coleraine in the summer of 2004.
He is now due to discuss personal terms with Crewe and Lincoln are seemingly confident McAuley will move to Gresty Road.
"Both Gareth and his agent have been informed and both appear to be happy at the move," Lincoln's chairman of football Ray Trew told the club's official website.
"It's now down to Gareth to agree personal terms with Crewe Alexandra."
Meanwhile, Crewe centre back Mark Roberts has extended his loan with Nationwide Conference club Southport for a further month.
