New Foxes boss Martin Allen has been active in the transfer market since taking over at the Walkers Stadium and is already into double figures for new signings.
Birmingham City duo Stephen Clemence and DJ Campbell are close to joining Leicester, while Janssen could be another addition to the ranks.
Janssen, who was linked with Sunderland at the end of last season, feels it is '50-50' that he will head to the Championship club.
"Leicester have asked about me," Janssen told De Gelderlander.
"I have a little bit of a double feeling. Last year it was announced that I had played my last match in a Vitesse shirt, therefore it is strange I am now here (for training).
"The club is looking to get a fresh wind and I suppose it is maybe better to leave the club.
"That club (Leicester) have contacted me. What I have heard is Leicester has got a new owner. He wants to invest in the club.
"Currently, Leicester is playing in the Championship. It depends on what the club wants to do with me and in which role they see me. If that is okay, this story could get a good end.
"I guess it's a 50-50 chance that something will happen there. I extended my deal not so long ago for two seasons and therefore I could not leave the club for free.
"There are also some other options. It's not that I want to leave Vitesse at all costs, there is nothing bad to Vitesse."
If Leicester follow up an interest in Janssen, he would become the club's second Dutch signing of the summer after Sergio Hellings was brought in from AGOVV.
