Nigel Pearson has secured his first signing for Leicester City after bringing in Michael Morrison from Cambridge United.
Morrison, who was wanted by Southend United last season, has signed a two-year contract with the Foxes after the League One club agreed to pay an undisclosed fee.
Cambridge will also receive further sums based on appearances and promotion, and have also included a sell-on clause in the transfer.
The 20-year-old made over 100 appearances for Cambridge and Leicester boss Pearson is confident the centre-half can make an impact in the Football League.
Hungry for success
"Michael is a young, promising player and I am delighted to have him on board," Pearson told the club's official website.
"He's a lad who is going in the right direction and is hungry for success.
"He's played over 100 games for Cambridge, which at just 20 years of age is some achievement.
"He comes with some outstanding recommendations and I am looking forward to working with him."
